Cros-Lex administrator resigns

Croswell-Lexington Community School’s Pioneer High School Principal Damien Pepin has resigned,

according to a letter to parents that was signed by Superintendent Dan Gilbertson.

Pepin will be paid through the 2019-20 school year in line with his contact language and will not be returning to the district, the letter said.

Gilbertson said in the spirit of moving forward as a district, and after a thorough investigation, the board determined to accept Pepin’s resignation to be in the best interest for the students and schools.

Pepin has been on paid non-disciplinary leave since February after being accused of an inappropriate relationship with a former student. In a previous release, the district said the alleged relationship with the former student occurred several years after the student graduated.

The school’s investigation found the Pepin did not engage in any inappropriate behavior on school grounds.

An investigation into Pepin by the Sanilac County Sheriff Department did not result in any charges.
