Several Lapeer County agencies will participate in joint hazardous materials and law enforcement exercises alongside the U.S. National Guard and 51st Civil Support Team Tuesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 21.
The exercises were scheduled and designed by the Lapeer County Emergency Management Office, in collaboration with local first responders. The exercises aim to strengthen partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies, enhancing the collective ability to respond to incidents involving hazardous materials that may exceed local capabilities.
Exercise activities will take place in Lapeer and surrounding communities and are intentionally planned in areas away from high-population density to prioritize public safety. Residents may observe responder vehicle movement and operational activity within the county.
For the safety of both the public and exercise participants, residents are asked to avoid areas marked with “Exercise in Progress” or “TRAINING” signage. Entering these areas could pose a risk due to ongoing training activities.
These exercises have been fully coordinated with the Lapeer County Emergency Management and local first responder agencies.
