Two Lapeer County parents were arrested and charged with first degree child abuse and torture last Friday, May 1.
The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office reports that last Friday morning, members of the department’s Detective Bureau and Special Response Team, along with the Davison Township Police Department and Davison Investigations and Criminal Enforcement, conducted a search warrant in the 2000 block of Lily Court in Davison Township, during which time they arrested Alyssa Nicole Holt.
Her husband, Troy Michael Holt, was taken into custody later that day at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, where he was attending Army Reserve training.
Both were charged with first degree child abuse and torture, with Troy also being charged with third degree child abuse. These charges, as authorized by the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office, stem from a November 2025 investigation into suspected child abuse in the 900 block of Martin Drive in Attica Township.
The victim, a two-month-old, was taken to McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital due to being lethargic and unresponsive. The infant was transferred to Hurley Medical Center, where it was determined that a subdural hemorrhage was present. Upon subsequent transport via ambulance to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, it was discovered that the infant additionally suffered from numerous broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, a fractured forearm and retinal hemorrhaging.
The baby has since received appropriate and ongoing medical care for the significant injuries.
Both Troy and Alyssa Holt were arraigned on Friday, May 1, in the 71-A District Court, and were ordered to be held at the Lapeer County Jail on a $200,000 bond each, cash or surety. They will next appear in court for their probable cause conference this Friday, May 8.
