One Michigan State Police (MSP) member was awarded yesterday for her work during a complex homicide investigation in Lapeer County dating back to 2011.
Elizabeth Wandrei received the Meritorious Service Award for her professionalism, diligence, and perseverance during the department’s Employee Recognition Ceremony August 7, which highlights members who have earned promotion, achieved 30 years of service and were injured in the line of duty.
She earned her award for the role she played in identifying suspect Chadwick Shane Mobley as a person of interest in the November 2011 death of 20-year-old Andrea Eilber. 20-year-old Andrea had been found on November 16, 2011 in her aunt and uncle’s basement, having been bound and shot dead by a single gunshot to the head two days prior. She had been alone in the Mayfield Township home while her relatives took a trip. Police learned that her bank card was used several times after her death, with her vehicle abandoned near the home on King’s Mill Road.
In her role as a criminal intelligence analyst, Wandrei provided hundreds of hours assisting investigators with intelligence gathering over the course of several years while also coordinating with federal and out-of-state police agencies.
Her criminal intelligence gathering played a crucial role in locating information related to the homicide, which ultimately assisted investigators in locating and arresting Mobley out of state.
The MSP formally recognizes its members twice a year for length of service, promotions and extraordinary deeds.
