Suspect found hiding in home

(Port Huron Township) – The St. Clair County Sheriff Department is crediting citizens tips in helping find a wanted suspect in connection with a home invasion, assault and stolen vehicle incident that took place in Clyde Township Friday. According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the suspect was arrested Saturday evening shortly after 7:00 at a home on 26th Street in Port Huron Township. 50-year old Anthony Spencer was found hiding in the basement of the residence and when told he was under arrest, he resisted deputies.

Spencer is accused of smashing a sliding glass window at a home on Carrigan Road and entered the home. Police allege he tied up and assaulted a 78-year old woman in the home, stole a debit card and stole the woman’s vehicle.

The vehicle was located a short time later in the parking lot of Wadhams Pharmacy in Kimball Township.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital.
