(Marlette) – Students from area high schools took part in quiz bowl action at Marlette Thursday afternoon. Ubly finished the day in first place with a 4-0 record while teams from Brown City, Marlette and Bad Axe all had 3-1 records. In junior varsity competition, Sandusky took top honors with four wins and Marlette was runner-up. The teams will meet in Bad Axe on November 17th for their next meet.
In earlier competition, Ubly once again took first place out of seven teams with over 70 students competing. The Bearcats won over Brown City, Bad Axe B team and the A and B teams from Sandusky. Carsonville-Port Sanilac had a good day, winning three matches and the Marlette A team finished the day 2-2.
In a separate junior varsity tournament held at the same time in Ubly, the Sandusky team finished the day with a 3-1 record to keep their first place position in the league standings.
