Croswell city council approves bid for tree removal and trimming

croswell-2

The Croswell City Council met this past Monday, welcoming discussion on future city improvements and tree removal bids.

City Administrator Dave Tait reported that the new ambulance that was ordered has been delivered. It will take twenty to thirty days to prepare the vehicle for service. In other business, the city is also working on updating their zoning process. This includes adjusting all of their current ordinances. There is no estimated timeline for their completion, at this point.

A big topic of debate at Monday night’s meeting was the council’s plan to accept bids for tree removal, as well. This service was bid out based on hourly rates within the city limits. The removal is to be completed by Flynn’s Tree Service LLC at an hourly rate of $130. One local citizen expressed some concerns, however, regarding rates and compensation. City council members assured the community that all trees to be trimmed or removed are selected by the city beforehand. The set amount put aside is $10,000 with Flynn’s Tree Service LLC having previously been selected prior to 2024. City council members will be looking into potentially bidding out tree removal and trimming as a project instead of as a service in the future.

The next city council meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 6, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.
