Lapeer City Police helped St. Clair County nab a possible murder suspect this past Friday.

Lapeer Central Dispatch was contacted by their St. Clair County counterpart shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, sharing information about a possible murder suspect who was in the neighboring area looking for a Tractor Supply Company (TSC) so they could buy a rope.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white Ford Edge with Michigan plates, with Lapeer City officers immediately finding a vehicle matching the description and license plate number upon arrival at the local store. The match was further confirmed when the suspect was seen in the vehicle’s driver’s seat.

With the store contacted by dispatch and told to immediately lock all store doors, officers positioned their patrol units to try and limit the suspect’s ability to flee. Before officers could approach the vehicle, the suspect attempted to leave the parking lot and was promptly pulled over in the service drive of the store and neighboring Walmart.

The suspect was safely taken into custody and promptly turned over to the Battle Creek Police Department for further investigation. Assisting the Lapeer City Police Department were the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office and Metamora Township Police.
