While the Sandusky Community School Board of Education will be screening applicants tonight as part of their ongoing superintendent search, the Marlette School District’s board hopes to hire their next superintendent during their meeting tonight.

With both special meetings starting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, Marlette’s meeting will be almost solely focused on interviewing their two finalists, James Marshall, a Marlette native and North Branch educator, and Richard Klee, a former principal at Taylor High School and current superintendent at Beecher Community Schools near Flint.

After Marshall’s interview at 6:00 p.m. and Klee’s interview at 7:15 p.m., the board plans to discuss and decide Marlette Schools’ next superintendent.

Meanwhile, the Sandusky Board of Education will be first voting to approve updates to the elementary school’s parking lot project to the tune of almost $40,000, as well as approving almost $11,000 to build a halfway fence around the school’s ticket booth. The board additionally hopes to approve the coming school year’s contract with Chartwells Food Services and the schools’ technology plan.

Following those action items, the board will be completing the interview questions and screening applicants.

Both boards meet for their regular meetings next Monday, June 26, with Marlette’s meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. and Sandusky’s at 7:30 p.m.
