(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Deckerville Eagles had a record-setting night in their demolition of the Genesee Wolves in 8-Man football.

The Eagles ripped the Wolves 82-48 as senior Ethan Bowerman set a new Michigan High School Athletic Association record by scoring six touchdowns in the first quarter.

Bowerman finished the game with 306 yards rushing on just 12 carries and scored seven touchdowns overall. The Eagles rushed for 632 yards on 45 carries and added another 62 yards passing.

Two of Bowerman’s scores came on runs of 65 and 85 yards and he has rushed for more than 400 yards and scored nine touchdowns already this season. The Eagles scored 46 first quarter points and never looked back, leading 54-32 at the half.

The Cros-Lex Pioneers remained undefeated in the Blue Water Area Conference with a lopsided 44-0 win over rival Yale, earning the helmet trophy as a result.

After scoring two points on a safety early in the game, Cros-Lex relied on the one-two punch of Jake Townsend and Saige Slanac to blow the game open. The duo connected on two scoring pass plays and Townsend added another rushing TD to spark the Pioneers.

Drew Hosterman added a third quarter rushing TD in a game that was penalty-filled with too many personal fouls on both sides. After opening the season with three straight home games, the Pioneers take on Imlay City this week on the Spartans’ home field.

Mitchell is now over 500 yards rushing for the season, in just three games, and has scored nine touchdowns. Nik Lewis scored twice for the winners while Logan Henderson and Mason Gorman also got in on the scoring fun for C-PS.

The Tigers gained 420 yards on 32 carries in the game, scoring seven times.

The Sandusky Redskins picked up their first win of the season with a 52-0 thrashing of Capac in GTC-East action. Senior martin Tovar scored three times in the first quarter alone, on runs of 40, 4 and 45 yards to set the pace for the winners.

Tovar finished the game with 155 yards rushing on only seven carries.

The winners led 38-0 at halftime and never let up, adding a pair of TDs in the second half including a 34-yard scamper by Carter Krause. The Redskins host the undefeated Bad Axe Hatchets Friday night.

The Marlette Red Raiders collided with a strong Ubly squad and were dealt a 56-21 loss in GTC-East play.
