THIS IS AN UPDATE TO THE STORY YESTERDAY REGARDING THE CRASH AT M-46 AND ISLES/FREIBERGER ROADS THURSDAY MORNING.

Five people sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash in Sanilac County’s Moore Township late Thursday morning. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, deputies responded to the intersection of Sanilac Ave (M-46) and Freiberger Road shortly after 11 a.m.

Initial investigation revealed that 2003 Suzki Grand Vitara driven by a 32-year-old
Caro woman was stopped in the east bound lane of M46 waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn north onto Freiberger Road.

The Suzuki was rear ended by an east bound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 35-year-old Sandusky woman. The impact sent the Suzuki into oncoming west bound traffic striking a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 62-year-old Sandusky man that was hauling a 2012 Gulf Stream camper. The impact caused the camper to become detached from the pickup truck and roll.

The Caro woman was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital and later transferred by Flight Care to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. The Sandusky woman was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital.

The Sandusky man and his two passengers a 49-year-old Sandusky woman and an 85-year-old Sandusky woman were transported by Marlette EMS to Marlette Regional Hospital.

Many citizens stopped to assist with traffic and provide medical treatment to the five people who were injured in this crash. Sanilac County Animal Control and the Sanilac County Road Commission assisted on scene.
