(MAYVILLE) – At least seven fire departments responded to a large fire in Mayville early Sunday morning that destroyed a family business along M-24.
Northern Log Company was engulfed in flames shortly after 5 a.m. with debris reportedly being blown across the highway to neighboring homes.
Rescue crews and police evacuated homes in the area until the flames were brought under control. Fire departments from throughout Tuscola County and Northen Lapeer County responded with mutual aid.
The business is owned by Peter Green who started the business in his dad’s pole barn behind his house in 2003 and later expanding to it’s current location in Mayville along M-24 and Industrial Park Drive.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported. Firefighters remained on scene for over six hours.
