Four suspects nabbed in Sandusky theft

Police investigate Walmart theft

(SANDUSKY) – The Sandusky police department responded to a retail fraud case at Walmart Friday evening around 9 pm where store staff claimed suspects had ran out of the store with a large value of merchandise and fled by car.

Chief Brett Lester said the suspects vehicle description was given along with the license plate and the last known direction of travel. Sandusky Police Officer Chad Schmidt located the suspect vehicle and followed it until assistance from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office arrived and a traffic stop was initiated.

Four subjects were taken into custody and over $1,800.00 in stolen merchandise was recovered along with drug paraphernalia and illegal narcotics. The subjects taken into custody were a 20 year old Richmond man, a 32 year old Emmett man, a 26 year old Emmett female and a 32 year old Avoca man.

Along with the Sanilac County Sheriffs Office, the Sandusky Police Department was also assisted in this investigation by the Sanilac County Drug Task Force and Walmart Loss Prevention.
