Sandusky streets could see improvements

Sandusky officials will be meeting with DTE to investigate a possible switch of downtown streetlamps, converting to LED lights.  City Manager Dave Faber said he and DPW Supervisor Matt Harris will look at partial replacements with DTE representatives and the potential savings for the city.

Faber also told council members Monday evening that Agi-Valley Services have completed their engineering on the city-wide project of bringing fiber optics to Sandusky. Work on connecting those residents and businesses that have signed up for the service is expected to begin later this year.

In other council news, Faber discussed proposed street work in the city, either paving or chip and seal methods. A proposal for eight streets, including Flynn, Truman and Maple Valley totaling around $400,000 dollars, was discussed.

Chip and seal work on Argyle, Bridgehampton W. Speaker, Orval and Industrial Drive totals around $160,000. Faber said it was not clear what streets would be done, but said he has been in touch with contractors to reserve a place on their work schedule for this year.

The 50-50 match money project would cost the city about $250,000 dollars.
