A Lapeer County mail carrier sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a dog while working her route in Mayfield Township. Authorities said the woman was bitten in the face by a large Pit-Boxer mix breed dog earlier this month and have to have surgery in a Detroit area hospital. The animal, who was reported to be up to date on shots and is being held by Animal Control for 10 days, apparently jumped through an open window and bit the carrier’s nose, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.
