(FLYNN TOWNSHIP) -An incident being investigated by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office on Aitken Road has been ruled a homicide. Authorities were led to southeastern Buel Township, where the body of 42-year old Bricia Flores-Rivera was recovered late Saturday. An autopsy was performed early Sunday morning confirming the homicide.

Authorities say two suspects, a brother and sister, are in custody and have been arraigned for the alleged killing of a co-worker. Police say 20-year-old Leobardo Torres-Castillo and 33-year-old Francisca Vargas-Castillo were charged with Felony Homicide Open Murder and Felony Concealing the Death of an Individual.

Both suspects remain in the Sanilac County Jail on $1,000,000 cash bonds. A preliminary examination is scheduled for September 18th.

Detectives are still piecing together why a brother and sister allegedly killed a coworker.

Leobardo Torres-Castillo, 20, and Francisca Vargas-Castillo, 33, were arraigned Sunday. Police say a language barrier is slowing the investigation due to the suspects only speaking Spanish. Bricia Flores-Rivera, 43, was reported missing from Flynn Township early Saturday morning.

Flores-Rivera’s death is the third homicide case in Sanilac County in less than three months.

A 24-year-old Croswell man was arrested July 10 after allegedly stabbing his father to death. Justin Bonin is charged with open murder in the death of his father, 63-year-old Richard Bonin.

A 54-year-old Marlette Township woman was arraigned July 20 on charges of open murder and other charges, accused of killing her 64-year-old husband, Richard Rager, inside their home on Cooper Road.
