A solar farm is still in the works for the Village of Elkton, it’s just going to take some time to get the wrinkles worked out.
Village officials have confirmed the renewal of Cypress Creek Renewables’ agreement on Tuesday July 17, after receiving a $1,000 dollar payment for the renewal agreement. The agreement involves solar farm plans on a 29-acre piece of property off of Ewald Road on the east end of the village.
Zoning and ordinance issues within the village have been updated to allow for the project. Contract negotiations with DTE continue for power purchase and once that hurdle is cleared, development is expected to begin.
