Bus Crash Sends Victims to Hospital

There were some anxious moments Wednesday morning when a school bus carrying children to school in St. Clair County was involved in a two-vehicle accident. According to the St. Clair County sheriff department, up to 40 children were on the bus with many being treated for minor injuries. Police said the bus was eastbound on St. Clair Highway when a pickup ran a stop sign on Wadhams Road shortly after 8:30 a.m. The school bus struck the side of the truck, sending both drivers and two children to the hospital. Five Tri-Hospital EMS units, St. Clair firefighters and Michigan State Police troopers assisted at the scene. Uninjured children were loaded on to another bus and taken to Pine River Elementary. Police said the driver of the pick-up truck will be issued a citation.
