Firefighters were called to a brush fire in the 2600 block of Woodland Court in Port Huron Township around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. According to fire officials, the home owner was burning yard waste when wind blew ash into nearby bushes, in turn igniting a deck. Firemen from three departments were able to contain the fire to the deck, but the home sustained smoke damage. Firefighters from Port Huron Township, Kimball Township and the City of Port Huron responded and no injuries were reported.
