Multi-vehicle crash sends victims to hospitals

Police are investigating a three-car crash

 

(SANILAC COUNTY, Austin Township) – A three-vehicle crash in Sanilac County’s Austin Township Wednesday afternoon sent multiple victims to two area hospitals for treatment of injuries.

According to Sanilac County sheriff deputies, 43-year-old Jennifer Petretis from Sandusky and 26-year-old Shaun Messing from Ubly stopped to assist a motorist in the ditch when their vehicles were struck by 27-year-old Renee Buckley from Port Sanilac.

Two passengers in the Buckley vehicle, 23-year-old Kortney Ray from North Branch and a 4 year old male from Port Sanilac, were transported to Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe by Bingham EMS for treatment of injuries.

Petretis was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Deputies said cause of the accident was due to icy road conditions and strong winds.

The accident remains under investigation and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
