Sanilac Co. Road Commission Looking Forward to Summer Projects

With the worst of winter behind them, the Sanilac County Road Commission is working on plans for upcoming road projects this summer. Assistant Engineer Dale Stolicker told board members he’s given estimates for road work in Speaker, Elk and Flynn Townships totaling over $74,000 and another in Evergreen Township that, if approved, would cost nearly $98,000. Manager Robb Falls said gravel agreements with Custer and Elmer Townships have been approved, totaling more than $75,000.

In other road commission news, Falls said Custer Township intends to place new road name signs throughout the township at a cost of $5,800. He said all gravel road intersections will receive six-inch signs with four-inch reflective lettering while roads by state highways will get 12-inch signs with six-inch lettering. Falls said townships throughout the county have been trying to replace signs with the more visible ones over the past several years
