Three-year old dies in early morning house fire

Three area fire department responded to a fully engulfed house fire early Monday morning

 

Sanilac Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call around 1 a.m. Monday morning that a residence was on fire in the 300 block of W. Snover Road. Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with Sandusky Fire Department.

Upon arrival it was determined that the home was engulfed in flames and was occupied by an area family. The 29-year-old father, 25-year-old mother and 1-year-old child were able to get out of the house , fleeing to a neighbor’s home, but a three-year old boy was trapped in a bedroom.

According to Sgt. Mike Moore, Deputies’ said the house and car in the driveway were fully engulfed. Family members told deputies the 3-year-old was the only person still in the house. Firefighters entered the home and searched for the child, finding him on the floor deceased in a southwest bedroom.

The Sheriff’s Office Arson Investigation Team, Detective Bureau, Sanilac County Sheriff’s Victim’s Services Unit, Sanilac County Animal Control and the State Fire Marshall responded to the scene to assist firefighters from Sandusky, Moore Township and Carsonville.

The is scheduled for an autopsy later in the week to determine cause of death, investigators said. The father and infant son were transported to Flint Hurley for treatment of their injuries. The mother was transported to McKenzie Health Systems by Sanilac EMS for treatment of her injuries.
