Winter weather brings rash of accidents in Sanilac County

Police are investigating several accidents

(Sanilac County) – The season’s first accumulated snowfall kept Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies busy all day Saturday investigating five personal injury accidents. The first mishap happened around f6am at the intersection of M-90 and Brown road. A 25-yearold Croswell woman was traveling west on M-90 and attempted to make a right turn onto Brown Road. She was unable to make the turn on the snow an went off the road and rolled her vehicle over. She was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Around 12 noon deputies were sent to the intersection of M-19 and Argyle Roads to investigate a two-vehicle accident. 40-year old Jeffrey Foote was traveling east on Argyle Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle that was driven by 30-year old Kari Lasceski of Filion. Lasceski was treated at the scene and released by Bingham EMs.

Another 2-vehicle accident occurred around noon in the same vicinity…at the intersection of M-19 and Stone Road where a vehicle driven by 72-year old Mary Gibbs of Sandusky was traveling south onM-19 when she slowed to make a left-turn and was struck from behind by a semi with a loaded trailer operated by 37 year old Brian Jerome. Deputies say he was following too closely, and was unable to stop in time. Gibbs was transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment. Two passengers in her vehicle were not injured.

At 1:25pm, deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Stringer Road near Custer Road where a truck driven by 30-year old Katherine Geister-Wallman of Sandusky was traveling north on Stringer road and lost control on the snowy road. Speed was determined to be factor in the crash. Wallman was not injured.

Then shortly after 3pm, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Juhl Road near Miler Road when 18-year old Mariah Halbert was traveling south Juhl Road when she lost control of her car and spun several times before entering a ditch. Halbert was taken to McKenzie health System for treatment. Speed was determined to be a factor. Deputies report alcohol was not involved in any of the crashes and seatbelts were being worn
