Two Melvin men injured in UTV accident

(Speaker Township) – Two elderly men sustained injuries in a UTV accident in Speaker Township Sunday evening, sending both men to area hpsiptals. According to Sanilac County deputies, a 65-year old Melvin man was driving the UTV on Galbraith Line, near Jordan around 6:30 p.m. and attempted to make a turn on snow covered roads. Due to the snowy and icy roadways the UTV was unable to turn and went in to a deep ditch.
Deputies said the passenger was ejected through the windshield. The driver was transported to Lapeer McLaren Hospital while the passenger was transported by McKenzie Health Systems in Sandusky for treatment of his injuries. Speaker Fire Department and EMS crews from Croswell and Marlette assisted deputies.
The accident remains under investigation.
