(SANILAC COUNTY) – A three-alarm structure fire in Port Sanilac Sunday evening kept firemen busy for over two hours. According to Port Sanilac Fire Chief Brian Moran, firemen responded to a home on Cedar Street around 7 p.m. and saw flames and smoke coming from the home. Moran said a bedroom sustained heavy fire damage while the rest of the house had smoke damage. No one was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported. Port Sanilac was assisted by Carsonville and Applegate fire departments.

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Two people were treated at an area hospital following a one-vehicle accident in Sanilac County’s Bridgehampton Township shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday morning. According to Sanilac County sheriff deputies, a 25-year old Carsonville man was driving south on Maple Grove Road, near Custer when he lost control and collided in a ditch. Both he and his female passenger, a 22-year old Sandusky woman, were taken to Deckerville Community Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Names of the occupants are being withheld pending possible charges, Deputies said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

(SANILAC COUNTY) – A 32-year old Ubly man sustained injuries in a one-vehicle rollover accident early Sunday morning in northern Sanilac County. According to sheriff deputies, the man was driving south on Ubly Road, near Cumber Road when he lost control and rolled over around 12:30 a.m., after striking an embankment and trees. Deputies found the vehicle unoccupied when they arrived and later learned the man had sought his own treatment at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. The name of the man is being withheld, pending possible charges. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident.

(HURON COUNTY) – An electrical fire in a shed in Kinde Township early Saturday morning caused extensive damage, despite the efforts of two fire departments. Kinde fire department responded to the call on West Kinde Road around 4 a.m. and found the shed fully engulfed. They were assisted by Port Austin fire department. According to fire officials, roughly $10,000 dollars worth of tools, a vehicle and other equipment were lost in the blaze. Firemen, who were on the scene for two hours, believe an extension cord was the source of the fire.

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – An early morning crash in St. Clair County’s Grant township claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman Monday morning. According to St. Clair County sheriff deputies, the woman was westbound on Harris Road near Wildcat Road when she crossed the roadway for unknown reasons. Police said the vehicle entered a ditch before hitting a culvert and striking a tree, rolling onto it’s roof. A nearby resident heard the crash and called 9-1-1 around 2:30 a.m. Deputies were assisted by Grant Township firefighters and Tri-Hospital EMS. The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – St Clair County Sheriff Deputies have arrested two Sanilac County men as a result of an investigation into suspected Breaking and Enterings. After observing activity near a pole barn in Kimball Township early Wednesday morning, Ernest Cooke, 27, of Lexington and 33-year old Steven Cooke Jr.of Croswelll were taken into custody. Following their arrest, more related breaking and enterings of pole barns were reported in the same area later that morning. Detectives believe the suspects are responsible for those breaking and enterings, as well as others in numerous B&E’s in multiple jurisdictions within St Clair and Sanilac Counties. The two were arraigned on multiple charges Friday afternoon and are being held in the St Clair County Jail.
