Officials from Forester and Sanilac Townships, and the Village
of Port Sanilac will select the new SEFA Administrative Board
(FORESTER TOWNSHIP) – The Sanilac East Fire Authority will begin official operations beginning October 1st. Members of the Port Sanilac fire department were recently “terminated” by the village officially, for insurance purposes, and will be re-hired by SEFA to be covered under their insurance.
At a meeting next Wednesday evening, the SEFA board will meet at Forester Township hall to formally select the six member board who will be seated with the Board Chairman appointed by Forester officials.
In a move that caught some by surprise, the fire trucks, firefighters uniforms and the contact name for Sanilac County Central Dispatch will remain Port Sanilac Fire Department.
Some township officials who are part of the new Authority said they did not know the name would remain Port Sanilac Fire.
