Cross Winds Energy Park II in Tuscola County has broken ground on a new wind turbine farm. Consumers Energy officials started the project last week with the building of access roads. Concrete foundations will be installed over the next few weeks in preparation for the installation of 19 turbines in Columbia Township. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will go into commercial operation in January. The company pushed up construction on Cross Winds Energy Park III to 2019 instead of 2022, with plans for commercial operation in 2020.
