Man injured in construction zone accident

(Lexington Township) – A 27-year old construction worker sustained serious injuries after being struck in a work zone accident Thursday afternoon.

According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, the three-vehicle accident in Lexington Township around 1 pm happened on Peck Road, near Babcock Road.

Police said the victim, a flagman, became pinned between two vehicles that had collided. He was taken to McLaren Port Huron hospital and later transferred to St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.

The name of the victim and those driving the three vehicles were withheld while the accident remains under investigation.

The condition of the worker is unknown, according to police.
