Memorial Day services will be held throughout the Thumb this weekend, including Sanilac County. The following is a listing of communities with parades or ceremonies.
Port Sanilac will have services at a number of cemeteries, beginning at 9 a.m. at Ridge Cemetery. Services will also be held at Pine Hill, St. John, Washington, St. Mary and Port Sanilac cemeteries.
Croswell will have their parade at 9 a.m. in downtown Croswell while the Lexington parade will be held at 11 a.m.
The annual Blessing of the Fleet will take place at the Port Sanilac Harbor beginning at 12 noon.
Other services include 10 a.m. at Brown City, Deckerville American Legion services are at 10 a.m. at Downing and 11 a.m. at Forester while Marlette will have services beginning at 7:15 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Marlette will also have services at Siple, Moshier, Germania, Juhl, Flynn/Kerr, McLeish and a parade at 11 a.m.
Peck will have services at 9 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, followed by services at Christian Memorial, Melvin, Speaker Township, Fremont Township, Elk Township and conclude at the Peck Park at 11 a.m.
Rounding out the services will be a parade and program at the Courthouse in Sandusky beginning at 9:30 a.m. with other services at Greenwood (10:15 a.m.) and Mooretown (11 a.m.) cemeteries and a 1 p.m. service at Hillside Cemetery.
