Airport Zoning public hearing to be held

A public hearing will be held next month when the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners gives the public a chance to have a voice on a proposed County Airport Zoning issue.

The hearing will be held June 20th. A seven-member Airport Commission was organized last fall and along with the help of Aviation officials, have developed a draft ordinance to consider.

Among several items addressed, the proposed ordinance would establish restrictions of structures around the airport airspace, with a maximum height not to exceed 500 feet, within a 10-mile radius of an airport.

The proposed ordinance, if approve, would not effect existing structures that may exceed the new limits. New Construction and other construction increasing the overall height of a structure, within the hazard area, must conform with the provisions on height limitations.
