In an update to a fatal accident last week that claimed the life of a 40-year old Caseville woman, police said over the weekend a second person has passed away. Shawn Babbitt, the brother of the driver of the truck that polie said struck Sheila Isler, passed away in a Genesee County hospital. Isler was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, deputies responded to the intersection of Dunn Rd and Maxwell Rd. after a pickup being driven by 22-year old Todd Babbitt of Caseville, failed to stop at the intersection Thursday afternoon.
The two vehicles collided, claiming the life of Isler. Shawn Babbitt and Isler were both pinned in the wreckage and were freed with the Jaws of Life. The driver, Todd Babbitt, was treated at a Huron County hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
