Three injured in collision

(Marlette Township) – Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday afternoon where 3 people were injured, none seriously, in Sanilac County’s Marlette Township. According to Sheriff Deputies a 76-year-old Imlay City woman was driving a car south on M-53 near Montgomery Road when she attempted to make a U-turn in the middle of the road entering the path of a cargo van that had been traveling behind her. The 37-year-old driver of the van said that he was unable to avoid the crash. He and two passengers in the van were taken to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was and her passenger were treated at the scene and released. Police say alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident. The driver of the car was issued a citation and the driver of the van was arrested on an outstanding warrant. His name is not being released pending charges.
