Paving projects planned for next year

(Sandusky) – Area motorists will have at least two paving projects to navigate around next year. Sanilac County Road Commission Engineer and Manager Robb Falls said an eight mile stretch of Deckerville Road, from Decker Road to Shelden Road, will receive a double overlay next year, making it an all-season road. The $1.4 million project is part of a 80-20 Federal Aid program that cost county taxpayers just over $200,000. Preliminary work, including culvert repairs, has already been completed.
Old 51, between Carsonville and Croswell will be getting a single overlay once weather breaks next year, according to Falls. He said the only exceptions of the project are they will not be paving the actual village streets themselves. Cost of the project is expected to be approximately $1 million, with the County paying 20% of the federally funded program. The county’s portion of the funding will come from the Primary Road millage.
