DNA evidence leads to arrest 15 months later

(HARBOR BEACH) — DNA evidence has led to the arrest of a suspect in the case of a stolen tractor that went missing overfifteen months ago. The Huron County Sheriff’s Department initially received reports of the stolen tractor in April, 2015. The 2005 Case IH tractor was later recovered by authorities acting on a tip. Upon recovering the tractor, deputies gathered several DNA samples for testing. The tests, conducted by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, produced a match to 29-year old Drew Aldrich, of Harbor Beach. Aldrich was arrested Sunday and lodged in the Huron County jail. He was arraigned Monday in 73B District Court and faces felony larceny charges in the theft of the tractor. Aldrich remains lodged in the Huron County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
