Eva’s Place receives generous donations

(SANILAC COUNTY) — Sanilac County’s Eva’s Place Shelter received two generous donations during the Christmas Tree Lighting and celebration in Lexington on Saturday evening. The shelter’s manager, Lisa Schmidt, was presented a $100 donation from the Lexington Police Department. Officers participated in “No Shave November” to raise the money. Also Saturday, Carley and Chelsea Hawks, representing the Lexington United Methodist Youth, presented Lisa with a check in the amount of $339 in support of the shelter. The funds were part of the proceeds from Cardboard City held in November. The event raises awareness of homelessness in the county. A total of $1,000 was raised during the event and a portion was given to the Sanilac County Baby Pantry and Project Blessing. Eva’s Place is an emergency shelter dedicated to helping women and children that are victims of domestic violence.
