Sanilac County parks monitoring virus effects on camping

The “COVID 19 Virus” Pandemic is effecting everyone and Sanilac County Parks are no exception.  County Parks Director Roger Ballard says staff continues to work hard to get the Parks and Campgrounds ready for the upcoming 2020 Season.

Ballard said they are hopeful that with the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order issued by the Governor that the progress of the COVID-19 virus is slowed, and stopped sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, the Parks and Recreation board has said all offices, playground equipment and restrooms will remain closed at all Sanilac County Parks.

Work towards the opening date of May 1, however, officials continue to monitor the mich.gov/coronavirus website for updates on potential closures.

Knowing people will be getting “Spring/Cabin Fever” after experiencing this historical pandemic, officials encourage visitors to check out the parks while walking around but discourage anyone from interacting with Park Staff.

Ballard said the Park Offices are not open. If you need to contact anyone with the Parks system, you are asked to go to “sanilaccountyparks.com” for contact information.

Together, we will get through this!
