Sanilac County Property checked for Hazardous Material

(MARION TOWNSHIP) – The Sanilac County Office of Emergency Management has received inquiries concerning a parcel of property located in Marion Township.

Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman said the property has connection to the currently active Hazardous Material incident going on in Macomb County.

The Sanilac County property is owned by the same individual who owns the Oakland County property, according to Hillman.

He said Emergency Management officials visited the Sanilac County site Thursday and they have contacted State officials concerning the property.

State representatives with EGLE informed Hillman the site had been inspected in 2017 and no Hazardous Materials were found. Hillman has requested a copy of the report.

The Emergency Management Departments has also requested a re-inspection of the property to ensure there is no Hazardous Material or other Public Health issues at the location, Hillman said.

He said the department will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.

Anyone with concerns or information about the property is asked to contact Hillman at 810-648-8357.
