Brown City man injured in rollover accident

Police investigate rollover accident

 

(MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP) -Wednesday morning at approximately 12:50 a.m., Sanilac Central Dispatch received a call from a subject in the 7000 block of Lincoln Street in Brown City. The caller advised Dispatch she could hear a male yelling for help. Sanilac Sheriff’s Deputies responded to that location and began canvassing the area.

While Deputies were canvassing the area, a passerby located a vehicle that had rolled over and was lying in the ditch on Maple Valley Road north of Wilcox Road in Maple Valley Township.

According to Sgt. Matt Armstrong, the investigation determined that a 25-year-old male from Brown City was southbound on Maple Valley Road and lost control of his 1997 GMC Pickup. The vehicle entered the ditch on the east side of the road and flipped, landing on its’ side.

The driver was ejected as a result of the accident. The driver crawled to a nearby residence yelling for help before the passerby located the vehicle in the ditch.
The driver was transported to Marlette Hospital by Marlette EMS for treatment of injuries.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and airbags did not deploy.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident and charges are being requested through the Prosecutor’s Office.

Deputies were assisted by the Brown City Fire Department.
