Port Huron Animal Control Officer passes away

Animal Control Officer Dan Woodruff

From the Port Huron Police Department: “It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that the Port Huron Police Department mourns the loss of our co-worker and friend, Animal Control Officer Dan Woodruff.

Earlier today rescue crews were dispatched to Dan’s home where he had a medical emergency and CPR was underway. Medical personnel arrived on scene very quickly and continued CPR while Dan was transported to McLaren Hospital. Medical staff at McLaren continued to work tirelessly to revive Dan but was unsuccessful.

Dan began his career with the Port Huron Police Department as a Cadet in October 1996. Dan was promoted full time in January 1998 as the Department’s Animal Control Officer. Over the past several years Dan received many additional assignments including vehicle processing, video evidence administration, and assisting with duties pertaining to the property room.

Dan was a tremendous asset to the Department, but more importantly a friend and family member of the Port Huron Police Department.

Our prayers go out to Dan’s family in this difficult time.”
