Volunteers needed in April for stewardship at state parks in southeastern Michigan

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has released the April schedule of volunteer stewardship workdays at state parks in southeastern Michigan. Workday details, maps, and directions can be found on the Calendar of Volunteer Stewardship Workdays at the DNR website. Volunteers are needed to search for and pull non-native, invasive weeds, such as garlic mustard, dame’s rocket and narrow-leaved bittercress that threaten to take over in high-quality woodlands. In St. Clair County, volunteers are needed at the Algonac State Park on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, drinking water, and appropriate clothing for outdoor work.
