Pickup pulling cattle trailer overturns onto side due to slippery roads

(AUSTIN TOWNSHIP) — A pickup hauling a cattle trailer rolled onto its side Wednesday at 11:55 a.m. due to slippery road conditions. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies say the incident took place on Wheeler Road south of Cumber Road in Austin Township. The Ford F-250 pulling the cattle trailer was driven by 20-year old Logan Schumacher of Ubly. Schumacher lost control of the truck on the icy road and entered the west ditch. The trailer remained upright and partially in the roadway. One of two passengers in the truck sustained minor injuries in the crash, but refused medical treatment at the scene. Two calves inside the trailer were not injured. Deputies say all three occupants were wearing their seat belts and that speed and road conditions were factors in the crash.
