MDOT work closes M-90 Wednesday night, I-69 Saturday night

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close M-90 at the North Branch Flint River bridge in Lapeer County for deck pouring overnight on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The bridge will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via M-24 (Lapeer Road), M-39 (Burnside Road) and M-16 (Fish Lake Road). This work is weather dependent This closure is part of a $3.5 million investment to improve M-90 from M-24 to the west village limit of North Branch. Work includes resurfacing, centerline rumble streets and pavement markings.

Additional bridge work includes resurfacing, painting, scour protection, substructure repair, deck patching, railing repair, silane treatment, guardrail and approach work. These improvements will increase driver safety and extend the service lives of both the road and the bridge.

MDOT has also issued a permit for utility work on I-69 from Wilder Road to Lake Pleasant Road in Lapeer County, with the work requiring the temporary closing of both directions of I-69 overnight on Saturday, August 23. The closure is estimated to start at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and finish by 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 24.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured via Wilder Road Exit 159, southbound Wilder Road, eastbound Newark Road and northbound Lake Pleasant Road back to I-69. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Lake Pleasant Road Exit 163, southbound Lake Pleasant Road, westbound Newark Road, and northbound Wilder Road back to I-69.

Motorists should expect delays. This work is weather dependent.
