Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in a two-vehicle crash that left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries.

St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Port Huron Township Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS, responded to 24th Street, north of Court Street, just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 8, for reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

Initial reports were that the motorcyclist was unresponsive, bleeding heavily and had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Preliminary investigation concluded that a 35-year-old Port Huron man operating a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado had attempted a left-hand turn out of a private parking lot onto 24th Street and was struck by a 38-year-old Marysville man on a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The scene was investigated by the St. Clair County Crash Investigation Team. At this time, alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor and the operator of the pickup truck is cooperating with the investigation.
