A 16-year-old Yale boy was injured yesterday evening after being hit by a car in Sanilac County’s Fremont Township.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch was contacted shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, with a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash on East Galbraith Line Road, near Brown Road, in Fremont Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies and Croswell EMS were dispatched to the scene, with an Aspire Health Ambulance also responding to assist.

Investigation found that a 16-year-old boy from Yale had been running westbound in the eastbound lane on East Galbraith Line Road. Due to an eastbound vehicle, the boy turned and continued running towards the north into the westbound lane, disregarding a westbound vehicle and traveling into the path of a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.

The boy was transported by Croswell EMS to Port Huron McLaren Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The vehicle’s driver, a 21-year-old woman from Lexington, was believed to have been wearing her seatbelt and airbags did not deploy. Names are being held at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
