Tuesday’s meeting by the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners saw the formal introduction and appointment of the new Sanilac County Parks Director.
The recently created role was filled by area native Vince Micallef, who will oversee the operation of the county’s parks. Though he was formally appointed Tuesday, Micallef has actually been in the role since April 21 of this year.
Also introduced at the May 6th meeting was Jeff Ryan, the new executive director of Sanilac Transportation.
The commissioners also awarded the bid for Project Connect to Sanilac County Community Mental Health. Project Connect is an event planned for September 25, featuring free resources such as health checks, haircuts, personal care items and more. There will also be numerous organizations on site to provide assistance and information regarding local support and services.
The board approved funding for the event from the SAVE Partnership Millage Fund, with the cost not to exceed $15,114.38.
