
A Monday morning crash between two vehicles in Marlette Township saw a driver and her passenger receiving medical attention.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch was called around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 12, with a report of a two-vehicle personal injury traffic crash on M-53, south of Clifford Road, in Marlette Township. Deputies, along with the Marlette Fire Department, Marlette Police Department, Aspire EMS and Tri-Hospital EMS, were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation determined that a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by a 49-year-old Brown City woman, was traveling southbound on M-53 when it lost control on the icy roadway, entered the northbound lane and was struck by a northbound vehicle. That vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, was being driven by a 75-year-old Brown City woman at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Pontiac Sunfire was ejected from the vehicle upon impact, and she was transported to Aspire Rural Health Systems in Marlette for treatment. Her passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Fostoria, was also transported for medical attention.
The 75-year-old Brown City woman was transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to McLaren Lapeer Region for treatment, while her 63-year-old passenger was uninjured.
