In addition to the authorizing of the listing and filling of three county jobs, the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved two resolutions regarding the national opioid lawsuit and settlement.

By approving the resolutions, the board authorized a participation agreement for two settlements related to the national opioid crisis, with one settlement being a multiple manufacturer settlement involving eight different pharmaceutical companies, and the other settlement being from Purdue Pharma and its owners, the Sackler family.

The authorizations allow for the county to collect money to remediate the area’s opioid related issues, with the county to receive roughly $238,000 over 15 years from the Sackler settlement, and about $37,000 over an unknown time frame from the multiple manufacturer settlement.

In other commissioner business, the board authorized several departments to post and fill open positions, with administration seeking an Information and Technology Director, Central Dispatch seeking a part-time dispatcher, and the Clerk’s Office hoping to fill a court clerk position.
