Lexington’s council unanimously voted to appoint village trustee Bob Dost as the new village president at Thursday night’s special meeting.

Dost, who joined the village council in 2024, is originally from Port Huron, but came to Lexington about five years ago to retire from his 42-year career as a dentist in Washington D.C.

Also expressing interest in the president role was village trustee Christopher Cole, with both trustees questioned by the council individually at Thursday’s meeting.

Due to Dost now filling the president role, the council also approved the posting of the open trustee seat and its requirements at the May 9th meeting. The council also approved the hiring of a new ordinance enforcement officer, as recommended by city manager Lori Fisher.
