A 45-year-old Tuscola County man was arrested yesterday evening after threatening to light a house on fire and kill the family inside.

Tuscola County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Bischer responded to a home around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, to a report of threats made. The caller reported that a male relative was threatening to light the caller’s house on fire and kill the family. Upon arrival at the scene, the subject was gone and the deputies began looking for him when they were summoned back to the home.

The man, who had returned, not only threatened the caller with driving his truck through the house, but also allegedly forced entry into the home and assaulted the caller and the family dog. Tuscola County Sheriff’s Deputy Marcus Armstrong and Vassar Police Officer Michael Dekun responded to assist with the investigation.

The 45-year-old male suspect was later arrested for home invasion, assault, animal abuse, OWI 2nd offense and open intoxicants. Formal charges are pending.
