One dead, another in critical condition after Monday morning crash in Buel Township

One Sanilac County mother is dead and another is listed in critical condition after a Monday morning crash in Buel Township.

Michigan State Police Caro Troopers are currently investigating the crash, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. on June 5 at the intersection of Peck and Todd Roads. Preliminary investigation indicates a 24 year-old Peck woman, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, ran a stop sign while northbound on Todd Road, striking an eastbound 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by a 23 year-old woman from Croswell.
Both had one juvenile passenger in the vehicles with them at the time of the crash. The drivers were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, with it reported that the Peck woman passed away due to her injuries on Tuesday. The other woman is listed in critical condition. Both juveniles were treated  for very minor injuries and released.
The Michigan State Police was assisted on scene by MSP Traffic Reconstruction Team, Croswell Township Fire and EMS and Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies. This crash remains under investigation.
Note: An earlier version of this story misstated which of the two women had passed. We apologize for the error, and the article has been updated to reflect this correction. Our hearts ache for the families, and we did not mean to cause confusion during this terrible and tragic event. Our deepest apologies and condolences to the families and readers for the confusion.
